Many would have thought the final of the FA Cup would consist of another top Premier League team, but on this occasion, we have Crystal Palace facing big gun Manchester City.

Palace’s road to the competition’s final has been convincing, however. They have shown that they are not here to riddle with and can cause an upset by making their mark in the tournament.

Their every match has shown that they are set to give City a tough battle in the final. Before we predict any final outcome, we take a look at Palace’s road to the final.

Crystal Palace’s road to the FA Cup 2024-25 final

Crystal Palace 1-0 Stockport City [3rd Round]

At Selhurst Park, Eberechi Eze scored the game-winning goal against EFL rival Stockport County. It was Eze’s fifth goal of the season to put Crystal Palace ahead of the competition. Eze scored the first goal for the Eagles in just four minutes.

The forward took advantage of a clearing inside the box. He shot from the edge of the area to make it 1-0.

Doncaster Rovers 0-2 Crystal Palace [4th Round]

In the fourth round, Oliver Glasner’s team faced EFL League Two team Doncaster Rovers. The Eagles advanced with a resounding win in South Yorkshire. At the half-hour mark, Colombian international Daniel Munoz broke the impasse.

Palace scored again before the interval. Additionally, Justin Devenny scored a second goal in the 55th minute to guarantee a spot in the competition’s next round.

Crystal Palace 3-1 Millwall [5th Round]

Palace defeated Millwall at home to go to the final eight, securing local bragging rights in the South London rivalry. After goalie Liam Roberts was sent off, the Lions were down to ten men in the first half. Palace took the lead through an own goal.

Later in the half, Daniel Munoz extended their lead before Millwall scored their first. However, Eddie Nketiah made sure the quarterfinals spot was inevitable by making it 3-1 for the home team in the 82nd minute.

Fulham 0-3 Crystal Palace [Quarter finals]

With a convincing 3-0 win over Premier League opponents Fulham at Craven Cottage, in-form Palace secured their spot in the semi-final, making it five straight victories across all competitions. With 34 minutes remaining, Eberechi Eze made a ripple in the net. Four minutes later, Ismaila Sarr added a second to put Glasner’s team ahead going into the half.

An outstanding afternoon’s work was capped off in the 75th minute when Eddie Nketiah added a third goal to guarantee the team’s spot in the final four for the first time since 2022.

Crystal Palace 3-0 Aston Villa [Semi-finals]

Crystal Palace came within striking distance of winning their first major trophy and making their third FA Cup final trip after defeating Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the semi-final at Wembley. With thirty minutes remaining, Eberechi Eze had given the Eagles the lead with a brilliant strike that rippled the net before Palace picked up the pace in the second half.

Oliver Glasner’s team was a little more at ease after Ismaila Sarr made it 2-0 with 58 minutes remaining. The Senegal international then scored his second goal of the game in injury time to make it a memorable day.
