The French star was left out of the Les Bleus squad for the second international window in a row.

Didier Deschamps has finally cleared the air surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s omission from the France squad for UEFA Nations League games against Israel and Italy.

He revealed that his omission from the squad was not related to him being sanctioned from the national team but was rather due to his form at Real Madrid which led to the player not receiving a call-up for the Nations League games.

Rumours began to circulate that the former Paris Saint-Germain player was thinking about retiring from the national team, which sparked a lot of conjecture about the 25-year-old’s future with the squad.

However, Deschamps has said that has not been the case and it has been mainly due to the player’s form at his new club and was not a “sanction.” Speaking to the press after France’s 0-0 draw against Israel, he said that Mbappé is in a “difficult situation.“

“I’m behind him. He is going through a period that is not the happiest of his career. He wanted to come,” Deschamps added.

Mbappe was also not included in the France squad for the October international break due to injury and now this is the second time the player was not called up to play for his national team.

Kylian Mbappe’s season so far with Real Madrid

Mbappe has been under a lot of pressure since his move to Madrid as he has failed to reach the heights expected from him when he made the much-awaited move of his career to the Spanish capital.

However, so far he has laboured to find the back of the net with just eight goals for Real and he certainly knows that a lot is expected of him and he is yet to show his prime to the fans in his white jersey.

Hopefully, he will soon hit his form and the the club will finally witness one of the best players making a big impact at one of the biggest clubs in sport.

Meanwhile, Les Bleus will wrap up the Nations League matches on Sunday by travelling to the San Siro in Milan for a date with Italy.
