DR Congo announce squad for June international window; Aaron Wan-Bissaka included

DR Congo will play Mali and Madagascar in June.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been called up to the national team for the first time by DR Congo head coach Sébastien Desabre for the June friendlies against Madagascar and Mali. Since 2024, Wan-Bissaka has expressed interest in playing for the Leopards.
Wan-Bissaka, 27, was born in Croydon, Greater London, to DR Congo parents. He played junior football for England, but fierce competition at right-back compelled him to play for his parents’ nation.
Wan-Bissaka finalised his switch of allegiance, giving Desabre access to another Premier League talent. At the beginning of the season, Wan-Bissaka departed Manchester United to join West Ham United, where he contributed three assists and two goals.
However, the Hammers’ season has been poor, but he was nominated for West Ham’s goal of the campaign award for his strike against Newcastle United.
For the friendly matches, the French coach selected a team that was primarily from Europe. Alongside Fiston Mayele, a finalist in the CAF Champions League, Brentford star Yoane Wissa leads the offensive.
Simon Banza, a forward for Trabzonspor, and Cédric Bakambu, a striker for Real Betis, both kept their spots in the national team.
Wan-Bissaka is included in the team, along with Axel Tuanzebe, a defender for Ipswich Town. Tuanzebe played youth football for England in a similar capacity until deciding to join the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2024.
