Ronaldo feels it is difficult to score goals in the Saudi league.

Cristiano Ronaldo, a former Real Madrid player who has defended the calibre of football in Saudi Arabia’s top league, has stated that scoring goals in the Saudi Pro League is harder than in LaLiga.

Years after his shocking interview in which he criticised Erik ten Hag while playing for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo was once again speaking to Piers Morgan in their most recent two-part interview.

Following his interview with Morgan in 2022, the Portuguese star joined Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia, where he has since scored 108 goals in 121 games.

In response to Morgan’s slight criticism, Cristiano Ronaldo stated that he has scored more goals every season, saying that “even in a bad year, I score 25 goals.”

He continued by arguing that the league’s football standards are superior to those of Portugal’s Primeira Liga and Ligue 1, and also commented that it’s easier to score in LaLiga than the Saudi Pro League.

“Listen, I’ve played everywhere, for me, it’s easier to score in Spain than to score in Saudi,” he said, before adding that “if I played in the Premier League now, in a top team, I would score the same.”

Since arriving in the Middle Eastern country, Cristiano Ronaldo has remained one of the prolific goal scorers for Al-Nassr, but has not yet won a major trophy. Meanwhile, after his time at Real Madrid, he left the club as their top goalscorer in history.

Although he also hinted that he might retire soon, Cristiano Ronaldo is still an important member of his country’s national football team. He is probably going to play for Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup next year.

His recent comments on LaLiga’s competitive level sparked mixed debate among fans, as the Spanish league is one of the top leagues in Europe. Many world-class players have played (and play) for clubs like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
