The Red Devils are set to explore many deals during the summer window.
Emmanuel Petit, a former Premier League midfielder, has pushed Manchester United to recruit Xavi Simons, claiming that he will provide much-needed quality.
Former Premier League player Petit has pushed Manchester United to make a deal for Dutch star Xavi Simons, saying the RB Leipzig forward would provide “quality and personality every single game.”
The former Arsenal and Chelsea player cautioned that the team is deficient in several areas and needs “so many players” to compete at the highest level. The Red Devils are getting ready for a significant summer overhaul under head coach Ruben Amorim.
Speaking to FastSlots, Petit said: “Manchester United need so many players, they need players with personality and although I’m a big fan of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, that is still what they need.
“Manchester United have to play every single game with quality and personality and Xavi Simons would bring that. He could bring that, but he can’t be the only one doing it.
This summer, Old Trafford is anticipated to undergo a significant roster revamp. According to reports from Germany, United will need to pay €70 million (£60 million or $80 million) to obtain Simons from Leipzig. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have apparently already reached an agreement with Wolves for their acquisition of Matheus Cunha.
Despite their dismal domestic performance, United are the favourite to win the UEFA Europa League and guarantee a position in the UEFA Champions League the next season.
If they are able to secure a spot in the competition for the upcoming campaign, the club will need to build a strong squad in order to challenge other top European sides for the trophy.
Amorim’s team defeated Athletic Club 3-0 in the first leg of the UEL semi-final on Thursday at San Mames. They seem to be headed to the competition’s final. On Sunday, May 4, they will play Brentford prior to the return leg the following week.
