Tuchel has called up 35 players for the friendly games.

England have named an enlarged 35-man team for games against Uruguay and Japan later this month, with Leeds forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin back in the fold after an outstanding season.

With the World Cup quickly approaching, Thomas Tuchel is running out of games. However, the German has had an outstanding qualification campaign, and the former Chelsea manager is currently fine-tuning his team.

On March 27, England will host the South American nation at Wembley. Four days later, they will welcome Japan to their London home. With the team’s next games in June, just days before their World Cup opening against Croatia, the former is probably going to be a more difficult test.

Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo of Manchester United have also been handed call-ups. Maguire, who was a favourite under Gareth Southgate, has a plethora of experience, while Mainoo has earned his first England appearance since September 2024.

The German has also chosen to list five goalkeepers, including Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, and James Trafford of Manchester City, who have seen very few minutes this season.
