The Three Lions will take on the 11 Wolves in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Taking their first step towards Qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, England under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel will look to win their second home match in the World Cup Qualifiers. The European Championship runners-up are grouped with Albania, Andorra and Serbia. The Three Lions will be hungry to get three more points as they will face Latvia at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

They are the favourites and are expected to top this group partly owing to the wealth of talent available at Tuchel’s disposal and partly due to their superb recent record en route to the World Cup. This will be the first-ever meeting between both of these teams at an international level.

Latvia’s performance has been very poor and they haven’t got good results in their last four games. Facing England at the Wembley will be a daunting task for them. The Three Lions are much better side and have players of top quality.

Tuchel will surely use players from the bench for this fixture to test them and Latvia will have to be at their best to at least give a good competition to the home team. If Latvia are able to grab a point from this fixture they will surely get a huge confidence boost. This will be a mouthwatering clash for sure.

Players to Watch

Jude Bellingham (England)

Bellingham is known for his movement, always running to help his teammates. His football intelligence allows him to find and exploit open spaces, creating goals and assists for his team. He is usually positioned in the pockets between the midfield and defence.

He places himself between players, which can cause the defenders confusion regarding who should mark him. Bellingham’s technical and physical brilliance enables many alternative ways of beating the backline and scoring. He will be a big test for Latvia’s midfield as it is very difficult to contain him throughout the match. In 22 LaLiga matches, he has scored seven goals and has provided six assists.

Andrejs Ciganiks (Latvia)

He is a versatile player who can play as a winger and also as a full-back. He has represented Latvia at various youth international levels and has been part of the national team setup for a long time. He has played 59 games for Latvia and has scored four goals till now.

Even though he is short in height he is fast and has good acceleration which can cause some trouble to the English players. Overall a player who is composed and does not panic in difficult situations. With his pinpoint crossing ability, he can create good goal-scoring chances as well. In 26 matches this season he has scored once and has provided four assists.
