Erling Haaland close to renewing Manchester City contract with release clause

The Norwegian striker is still sought after by many European clubs.
Erling Haaland is reportedly on the verge of agreeing to a lucrative contract extension with Manchester City. However, the agreement is likely to include a release clause.
With seven goals in Manchester City’s first three games of the current Premier League season, Haaland has had an incredible start to the campaign.
The forward had just scored back-to-back Premier League hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham before travelling for the international break with Norway.
According to the Spanish publication Marca, Haaland is anticipated to sign a new deal with the Premier League winners soon to pledge his future to them. The current agreement is set to expire in the summer of 2027.
The report claims that with Haaland’s ‘new’ basic salary, the striker will surpass teammate Kevin De Bruyne as the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
At City, De Bruyne is supposedly paid £425,000 a week, while Haaland is currently paid a base salary of £375,000.
Though Haaland’s base pay is comparable to that of the other high-paid players at the Etihad Stadium, his weekly pay cheque exceeds £850,000. This is thanks to a slew of substantial, virtually guaranteed incentives.
Real Madrid, one of the dominant teams in Spain, should eventually be able to fulfil Haaland’s release clause in his new contract.
The holders of the UEFA Champions League are still admirers of Haaland. But since Kylian Mbappe joined an already excellent forward line this summer, the Norwegian is not seen as a priority.
According to reports, Haaland, his father Alf-Inge and agent Rafael Pimienta see the release clause as a means of ensuring that the forward has control over his future and career.
Haaland is “the master of his destiny,” according to Pimenta’s statement from the previous year, but he will always act in the best interests of his team.
