Euro 2024: Spain injury news & suspension list for final against England
Dani Carvajal will come back after serving one match suspension.
Luis de la Fuente’s Spain have booked their place in the Euro 2024 final after a hard-fought 2-1 comeback win against France in the semifinal round to extend their perfect run in the competition with a historic six wins out of a possible six.
Le Bleus took an early 1-0 lead in the match courtesy of forward Randal Kolo Muani’s opener in the 9th minute. However, Spain quickly turned the game on its head after Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal’s wonder strike was followed by Dani Olmo’s crucial goal in a frantic five-minute period, giving them a 2-1 lead. In the second half, La Roja dictated the proceedings with their strong possession as they saw off the French challenge in emphatic fashion to win the match 2-1 and progress to the ultimate final.
Luis de la Fuente’s side had finished the group stage phase as Group B table-toppers, beating the likes of defending champions Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the process, with an impeccable record of three wins, three clean sheets, nine points, and five goals scored.
During the decisive knockout stages, Spain recorded a convincing 4-1 comeback win against tournament debutants Georgia in the round of 16. This was followed by a thrilling 2-1 win against hosts Germany in extra time, courtesy of super sub Mikel Merino’s last-ditch winner, in an enthralling quarterfinal clash between the two top nations.

On July 15, the 2012 Euro winners are set to lock horns with England at the Olympiastadion in Berlin for the grand finale of Euro 2024. In a young and talented La Roja squad, players such as Marc Cucurella, Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, and Lamine Yamal have been standout performers throughout the tournament.
According to the guidelines, only if a player receives a red card in the semifinal will he miss the Euro final.
In their incredible run to the final of Euro 2024, Spain have faced its own set of obstacles in terms of player injuries and suspensions. La Roja will continue to be without the services of their talented midfielder Pedri, who sustained a serious knee injury during the quarterfinal match against Germany, eventually ruling him out for the rest of the Euros.
To add salt to their woes, captain Alvaro Morata suffered a freak injury during his side’s post-match celebrations in the semifinal win against France, when a security guard, in his attempt to stop a spectator who had jumped onto the pitch, accidentally slipped and took the striker with him. At his press conference, Luis de la Fuente confirmed that Morata was in pain, with tests set to be carried out to check the severity and his potential availability for the all-important final.
After missing the semifinals due to their respective one-match suspensions, the defensive duo of Robin Le Normand (second yellow card) and Dani Carvajal (red card) are set to make their return to the team for the final in what will be a big boost for Spain’s trophy hopes this summer.
