Portugal will face Les Blues in quarterfinals of Euro 2024.

Ronaldo, 39, is getting ready for his country’s quarterfinal match against France on Friday. In the previous round, his team narrowly defeated Slovenia on penalties.

The Al-Nassr star, who holds the record for most goals scored for Portugal with 130 in 211 appearances, is having a rough time at the tournament and hasn’t scored in four games and was moved to tears when Slovenian keeper Jan Oblak saved his penalty kick in extra time on Monday.

Clearly, the numbers are getting to him. This summer in Germany, no player has had additional shots without a goal than he has had. He is also experiencing the worst scoring slump of any player in a major tournament, having gone eight games without scoring since the World Cup in Qatar, where he converted a penalty in the opening match against Ghana.

Ronaldo has declared that this European Championship will be his last, which should come as no surprise considering he will be 43 years old by the time Euro 2028 arrives. However, there are rumours that he may decide to stay in Saudi Arabia until 2026. To put it another way, there’s a good chance he has one more World Cup in him.

Physically speaking, that would be an incredible accomplishment, and his ability to bounce back after missing a penalty kick in extra time to score the first spot kick of the shootout demonstrated his mental toughness.
