UEFA have now offered clarity over that matter.

The action in Group C of the Euro 2024 is officially over, with England topping the group. The group is infamously deemed as quite boring and the languid one, due to the lack of goals and thrill, unlike other groups in the competition.

Group C witnessed only seven goals throughout the group stage and astonishingly only one win was secured in the entire group.

Whilst the action in the group is now over, debates have now emerged regarding Denmark’s standing above Slovenia. Denmark are second in the group and Slovenia are third, despite finishing level on points, goal difference, goals scored and yellow cards shown to players.

Initially, it was claimed that it was down to having a higher ranking during European Championship qualification but UEFA have now offered clarity on that matter.

Due to a yellow card shown to a member of the Slovenia coaching staff, assistant Novakovič Milivoje, they fell behind Denmark in the disciplinary standings and into third.

Despite being third, Slovenia’s draw against England in their final group game meant that they have secured qualification into the round of 16 of the Euros for the first time ever, and have officially put an end to Croatia’s Euro journey.

Slovenia now awaits their fate in terms of their round of 16 opponent, whereas Denmark will take on hosts Germany.

How have Denmark and Slovenia performed in the Euro 2024 so far

Both Denmark and Slovenia have astonishingly drawn all three of their games in the European Championship so far. The two teams shared points in their inaugural game, courtesy of a 1-1 draw.

In the second matchday, both Denmark and Slovenia drew their games against England and Serbia respectively, with a goal apiece.

The final matchday saw a similar poor attacking performance by either side, as both games ended in a goalless draw.

Denmark and Slovenia have not been at their best in the group stages, and need to look at a different attacking approach if they want to get the results and continue their European dream.
