Inter Milan and the French club will face off on 31st May in the final.
This season’s pivotal match will be between Inter Milan vs Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League 2024-25 final. Following a 2-1 loss at the Parc des Princes, PSG eliminated the Gunners at home with a 3-1 aggregate.
Ousmane Dembele’s early strike gave the French powerhouses a slim lead in the first leg, and Mikel Arteta’s team needed to win by two goals to advance.
Instead, they ended up losing the game 2-1 and were unable to rally despite a late goal by Bukayo Saka. In one of the most amazing Champions League matches ever, Inter Milan defeated Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Davide Frattesi scored the winning goal in extra time after the match concluded in a 3-3 draw in normal time. Inter secured the victory with a 7-6 aggregate.
incredible fact about the Champions League finals held in Munich
The final will be played in Munich, and whenever a UCL final has taken place there, a new team has emerged winner in the competition. It was first started with Nottingham Forest in 1979 when they faced Swedish side Malmö FF and won the tournament.
The next time European competition was staged in Munich was in 1993, and this time it was Marseille. Marseille became the first French club to take home the European Cup/Champions League after beating AC Milan in their final match to win the event for the first time.
In 1997, it was Borussia Dortmund who won the competition by beating Juventus of Italy. Dortmund won with a scoreline of 3–1.
The last time the Champions League final was held in Munich was 2012, and it was Chelsea who lifted the cup and prevailed on penalties and it was their first-ever UCL trophy in their history.
Now Inter and PSG will play on the same ground, and maybe this time the record will continue to persist as PSG could emerge as the fifth different team to win the tournament.
Luis Enrique can create history with the French club by handing them their first-ever Champions League trophy after they failed to win it in the 2019-20 season.
