The fans are certain who will receive the award.
Football fans have called FIFA’s new ” FIFA Peace Prize” “shameless,” “sham,” and “a complete farce.”
The award was created to honour “those individuals who unite people, bringing hope for future generations,” according to a statement released on Wednesday by the worldwide governing body of football.
Online followers, however, were quick to denounce FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s most recent idea and are already certain that his close friend, US President Donald Trump, who was passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize last month, will be the first laureate.
The Peace Award, which ironically will be presented out for the first time on December 5 during the final World Cup draw in Washington, DC, is a creation solely for Trump to win, according to several of them.
Infantino’s surprising participation alongside Trump at the Gaza peace summit in Egypt earlier this month caused a stir.
Due to his closeness with the US president and his steadfast support for Israel, the FIFA president has become more and more involved in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
FIFA confirms introduction of Peace award
After the US-brokered ceasefire agreement put a halt to the conflict in Gaza, Infantino also demanded that Trump be given the Nobel Peace Prize.
FIFA announced the creation of the award on their official X account, writing: “FIFA introduces the FIFA Peace Prize – an award to recognise exceptional actions for peace and unity.”
“FIFA Peace Prize – Football Unites the World to be bestowed on an annual basis. First winner to receive the award from FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Friday, 5 December 2025.”
Fans react to FIFA Peace Prize award
One reply read: ‘So FIFA invent an award to give Trump because he sulked about missing out on not being given the Nobel Peace Prize (which he didn’t deserve). A total sham…’
One person remarked, “Congrats to Trump,” while another referred to the prize as a “complete farce.”
