In Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A match, Vasco da Gama defeated Neymar’s Santos by six goals thanks to a brace from Phillipe Coutinho.

“It’s a feeling of extreme shame. I’ve never experienced this in my life. Unfortunately, it happened. The tears were from anger, from everything. Unfortunately, I can’t help in every way. Anyway, it was total s—, that’s the reality.”

Following the outcome, the club immediately fired head coach Cléber Xavier and issued a statement wishing him “well in his future career.”

Many of the Santos’ supporters collectively departed MorumBIS and turned their backs on the club as they witnessed one of the most heart-wrenching defeats of the club in its history.

The 6-0 defeat marks the most crushing defeat in the club’s 98-year history.

However, as hosts in the Brasileirão, the Peixe had never lost by more than four goals. Neymar sobbed uncontrollably as he exited the field in the arms of Vasco coach Fernando Dinz, who had previously coached him for the Brazilian National Team, following the final whistle.
