The FIFA World Cup 2026 draw will take place tonight!

Even though the FIFA World Cup 2026 is still months away, anticipation for the competition is already growing. The formal draw tonight (December 5) will be the first significant step in forming the competition, setting the foundation for rivalries, narratives, and early talking points leading up to football’s grandest event.

Next year’s competition will be the biggest World Cup in history, with 48 countries competing. The expanded event will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

With 48 countries participating in the main draw—16 more than Qatar 2022—next year’s FIFA World Cup will feature the most in the competition’s history.

The global extravaganza, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19, has already been secured by 42 teams. Play-off games in March of the following year will decide the final six.

The hosts were initially divided into groups according to custom: Mexico is in Group A, Canada is in Group B, and the United States is in Group D.

When and where will the FIFA World Cup 2026 draw take place?

The final draw will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 12:00 pm ET (9 am PT, 5 pm GMT and 6 pm CET). The draw will take place at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC.

Viewers from India will have to tune in on Friday, 5 December, at 10:30 p.m. IST.
