This time, the winner will get a huge sum of $50m.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be unlike any previous edition, with a record 48 teams competing for football’s biggest prize. Along with the expanded format comes a significant increase in prize money, making this the most financially rewarding World Cup in history.

Hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, the tournament will see FIFA distribute a huge prize pool to the participating nations. While every team will dream of lifting the famous trophy, the money on offer will also provide a major boost to their football associations.

FIFA has set aside $655 million (£487.8 million) in performance-based prize money, rewarding teams based on how far they progress in the tournament. On top of that, every qualified nation will receive $2.5 million in preparation funding, ensuring all 48 teams earn a financial reward before a ball is even kicked.

With that in mind, here’s a look at how much each nation will earn at every stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
