The Brazilian icon is in talks with Santos to renew his deal.
According to reports, Santos and Neymar are in an “advanced” stage of contract negotiations; however, rival Flamengo could hijack that agreement. After helping his boyhood club stay in the Brazilian top flight this season, the 33-year-old’s contract is about to expire.
It appears that Santos and Flamengo are fighting for the forward’s services for the 2026 season since his current contract is coming to an end.
After the 2025 season ended, Santos president Marcelo Teixeira acknowledged that the Brazilian powerhouses need to extend Neymar’s contract, which expires at the end of this year.
With several goals in their last few games, Neymar, the former Paris Saint-Germain star, was instrumental in helping Santos retain their place in the Brazilian Serie A this season.

Flamengo are reportedly keeping an eye on the Brazilian legend. A number of their current players are pressuring the team to sign him.
Meanwhile, Brazil national team manager Carlo Ancelotti has challenged the former FC Barcelona star to demonstrate his fitness and secure his place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, even if Neymar will be sidelined for a while due to knee surgery.
