The website was accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment method.
A foundation website that stated it raised nearly £50,000 for charitable purposes in Diogo Jota’s name has vanished.
In response to The Telegraph’s revelation on the ‘Diogo Jota Foundation,’ Liverpool and the player’s family refuted any involvement with it on Thursday.
Three days after Jota’s passing in July, the ‘foundation’ website was launched, claiming to have raised £50,000 for ’empowering youngsters, elevating communities, and delivering the love of football to all.’
What happened? What Diogo Jota website?

However, the ‘diogojotafoundation.org’ domain currently displays a blank page.
Logos of Liverpool FC, UNICEF, Allianz, and the Portuguese Platform of Development NGOs [non-governmental organisations] were on the website, but when The Telegraph contacted them, three of them denied having any affiliation with the foundation.
Furthermore, The Telegraph has received confirmation from the Charity Commission that the organisation never applied to register with them. If the charity is situated in England or Wales and its annual revenue reaches £5,000, registration is required.
Why was the website made?
The ‘foundation’ asserted that ‘honouring the legacy of Diogo Jota’ was its goal.
“Through football, education, and hope, we carry forward the light he left behind – creating opportunity, joy, and lasting impact for the youth of Gondomar and beyond,” a statement read on the site.
“The Diogo Jota Foundation was conceived in 2025 with one goal: to celebrate Diogo’s incredible journey from a small youth academy in Gondomar to one of Europe’s most respected footballers – and to pay that spirit forward.”
It reported that it had established 50 local relationships, sponsored 300 pupils, and distributed 25,000 meals. The ‘foundation’ only took cryptocurrencies as payment, which is even more odd.
‘USDT, ETH and other coins using NOWPayments securely’ was the payment method that consumers were redirected to off-site.
