Mbappe missed the game due to injury.

In their second Group D match of Euro 2024, France and the Netherlands played to a 0-0 draw, a result that virtually assured both teams a spot in the round of 16.

Antoine Griezmann, the French captain, had a great opportunity in both halves but twice tripped over the ball. Kylian Mbappé was on the sidelines due to a broken nose sustained in a match against Austria.

Although both teams pushed for a winner, they had to settle for a point apiece. The Dutch thought they had secured the victory when Xavi Simons found the net in the second half, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

In their Group D opener in Hamburg, the Netherlands defeated Poland 2-1 thanks to a goal by Wout Weghorst, who came on as a substitute. In the 82nd minute, Weghorst—who scored two goals in 31 games for Manchester United during his loan at Old Trafford in the 2022–2023 season—replaced the ineffective Memphis Depay. Coach Ronald Koeman was looking for a late spark after witnessing his team miss several opportunities.

France’s Euro 2024 campaign started on a high note with a victory over a resolute Austria in Düsseldorf, thanks to a moment of magic combined with good fortune from Kylian Mbappé. However, Mbappé became a late injury concern after a mid-air collision with Austrian defender Kevin Danso. France’s captain and Real Madrid’s newest “Galactico” was substituted in the ninetieth minute, capping an eventful evening that ended with him bleeding from a fractured nose.

Mbappé was also shown a yellow card for re-entering the pitch, collapsing to the ground, and then leaving.

These developments set the stage for an intriguing final matchday in Group D, with both France and the Netherlands aiming to secure their places in the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
