Fulham match Manchester United's £30m price tag for Scott McTominay: Report

The Cottagers re-entered talks to continue their pursuit of the United midfielder.
Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay could leave the club for Fulham. The Cottagers have matched the club’s asking price for the midfielder which is worth around £30 million.
Earlier Fulham decided to leave the talks with United as the Red Devils weren’t budding below his price tag. But it seems the club have re-entered talks and have met the midfielder’s value.
McTominay last season was an integral part of the squad. He was Manchester United’s main goalscorer with ten goals across all competitions. The player was the joint third top goalscorer of the 2023/24 season.
The Manchester club have been looking to sell the player since last summer. West Ham United made a £30 million bid for the Scotland international last transfer window but United turned down that offer.
However, the club are now open to selling the Scotland international for that price. So far no club managed to reach it. Even Fulham’s initial bid which was around £20 million was rebuffed by the club.
United have not shown any sign of lowering the value for the 27-year-old. They would only sell him if any club decided to match their asking price for him.
Now Fulham have re-contacted United and talks have re-opened. The Cottagers did not intend to meet his price but reluctantly they have agreed as it seemed the only way a deal could be struck. Fulham have made a few signings this summer ranging from Ryan Sessegnon, Emile Smith Rowe and Jorge Cuenca. In the outgoings, they sold one of their crucial player Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, if Scott McTominay leaves Old Trafford, it will pave the way for the acquisition of a new midfielder. United have been expecting to bring Manuel Ugarte to Old Trafford.
