Germany announce squad for October international break; Kai Havertz left out

The Die Mannschaft will face Netherlands and Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Nations League.

The team for Germany’s international break matches against the Netherlands and Bosnia & Herzegovina in October has been revealed.

Tim Kleindienst, a striker for Borussia Mönchengladbach, is the only member of the team to be called up for the first time. Niclas Füllkrug, who is presently dealing with an Achilles problem has been replaced by the 29-year-old. Kleindienst has been rewarded for his performance with Gladbach this season as well as with Heidenheim previous season.

After being left out during the September international break, Antonio Rüdiger rejoins the team. Janis Blaswich and Serge Gnabry have also been called back.

Blaswich hasn’t played for the national team yet as he was listed as the third choice a year ago but an injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen has seen him receive a call-up for the national team.

As a result of his strong start to the campaign under new Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany, Gnabry also rejoins the team after a year away.

Germany will first play against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first of their two Nations League matches and will next host Netherlands.

The Germany national team announced on Sunday that forward Kai Havertz would miss Nations League games against Bosnia and the Netherlands because of a knee injury.

Havertz will not be joining Germany, despite playing the entire ninety minutes for his team, Arsenal, in Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Southampton.

Midfielders: Robert Andrich (Bayer), Chris Furich (Stuttgart), Pascal Gross (Borussia Dortmund), Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic (all – Bayern), Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart), Florian Wirtz (Bayer).
