Pep Guardiola once again makes big remarks on Lionel Messi.

Pep Guardiola will never stop praising Lionel Messi it seems. The Spanish manager once again expressed his admiration for the former FC Barcelona player during his recent press conference.

Guardiola was asked on the GOAT debate between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Manchester City head coach said: if Ronaldo is the monster then Messi is the father of the monster.

Messi and Ronaldo have dominated football for two decades. The Argentine has won eight Ballon d’Ors while the Portuguese icon has five Ballon d’Ors.

The Spanish head coach was asked plenty of questions which were also related to Rodri winning the award (Ballon d’Or) after beating Vinicius Junior. With the Spain international becoming the only third Spanish player to win the prize, many fans were left puzzled. As Rodri won the accolade, they wondered why Andreas Iniesta and Xavi never won the award.

Guardiola gave his take on this and the misfortunes of two best midfielders of all time who never won the award, he said:

“And Messi, nobody could beat him. Just Cristiano. Cristiano was a monster, and the father of the monster is Messi. And both have done something incredible in the last 15 or 20 years. And maybe in that moment, Xavi and Iniesta deserved the Ballon d’Or as well. So I think Rodri, yesterday, got what Spanish football deserved worldwide.”

Xavi and Iniesta were truly unlucky. They were playing during the time when Messi and Ronaldo used to rack up 50-plus goals every season, with either ending with the Ballo d’Or award. It became bread and butter for them, while for many football stars, it was only a dream in their career.

However, it is a good thing for other football players now. They can win the prize considering both Messi and Ronaldo are declining and are not playing in Europe anymore. Now the fight for the Ballon d’Or has become more open and unpredictable.
