Brazil is the third most successful nation in the history of the competition.

The Brazil National Football Team is one of the most decorated international teams in football history. The five-time World Cup winners head into the 2024 Copa America as one of the favorites to win the tournament this summer.

As far as the Copa America is concerned, Brazil is the third most successful nation in the history of the competition with nine titles, only behind arch-rivals Argentina and Uruguay, who have both won a record 15 titles each.

In the absence of their ever-present star players like Neymar Jr., Casemiro, and Ederson, Brazil’s dream of clinching yet another Copa America crown and closing the trophy gap shapes up to be a challenging task.

Under newly appointed head coach Dorival Junior, the Seleção Canarinha have a new-look outfit in many areas of the pitch. In defense, Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes and Juventus defender Bremer could potentially land starting center-back roles next to the experienced Marquinhos after their impressive respective club campaigns, along with a freshly returning Eder Militao from a long-term injury.

The midfield department has been completely revolutionized by the selections of Bruno Guimaraes, Joao Gomes, Douglas Luiz, Ederson, and Lucas Paqueta, all possessing the skills to form a midfield balance capable of dominating both defensive duels and attacking transitions.

The attacking lineup comprises some of the best global talents in Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Raphinha, Martinelli, and Endrick. This allows coach Dorival to formulate a fluid and mobile front line that can create a constant threat to opponents’ goals throughout the match with their explosive pace and precise finishing.

Brazil’s last Copa America triumph occurred in 2019 at home in front of their fans, when they defeated an underdog Peruvian side in the final 3-1, courtesy of goals from Everton, Gabriel Jesus, and Richarlison. It was a special Copa America campaign for Brazil, ending their 12-year hiatus as they went undefeated throughout the entire tournament, conceding only one goal in the process.

Brazil is placed in Group D of Copa America 2024 alongside Colombia, Costa Rica, and Paraguay. The Seleção Canarinha kick off their campaign against Costa Rica on June 25 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
