The Portuguese star is the all-time top scorer in men’s international football
Cristiano Ronaldo began his professional career at Sporting Lisbon and has since played for Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, and presently for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
Before relocating to Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo played for four different clubs, each of which he managed to win at least one trophy.
He was a member of the Manchester United squad that won three straight Premier League championships during his first stint there. At Real Madrid, where he won three consecutive Champions League titles under Zinedine Zidane, he went one step further.
He demonstrated that he can still contribute to a championship run by leading his newest team, Al Nassr, to the Arab Club Champions Cup at the start of the 2023–2024 season.
What about his time with the national team, though? Despite having accomplished everything with the clubs he has represented. Ronaldo’s standing with the national team is just as important as it is with club teams.
Fans also evaluate a player’s qualifications based on how well they play for their country, as demonstrated by the decades-long acclaim given to Pele and Diego Maradona simply for winning FIFA World Cups with their respective countries. Has Cristiano Ronaldo, however, ever won an international trophy while playing for Portugal?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s status with his national team rose to another level when he took them to the Euro 2016 final, but despite being injured in the final, Portugal managed to prevail in the tournament, beating France 1-0 in the final.
This boosted Ronaldo’s status further in the sport, and as usual, he was considered the best ever player in football’s history after winning his first-ever international trophy with the national team.
Three years later, he further solidified his status with the national team when he led Portugal to the inaugural UEFA Nations League trophy against Netherlands in the final. He lifted the trophy again in 2025 as Portugal beat Spain in the final on penalties.
However, the only trophy that has eluded the Madeira-born star is the FIFA World Cup.
The 40-year-old is expected to participate in the 2026 World Cup in the USA and will be hoping to end the drought of the trophy finally.
