The Frenchman netted a hattrick against Man City in the Champions League.

After destroying Manchester City with a spectacular hat-trick in the second leg 3-1 Champions League play-off victory, Kylian Mbappe sent a clear message to the press.

Although a scuffed finish may have given the French striker the goal in the 3-2 first-leg triumph at Etihad Stadium, his three goals in the return leg at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday were enough to guarantee a 6-3 aggregate victory against the English champions.

Mbappe’s skill was evident as his lightning-fast pace, deft movement, and merciless finishing proved too much for Pep Guardiola’s team to handle, guaranteeing the holders’ spot in the round of 16.

After just scoring three goals in 11 games for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, the France captain was recently the target of intense criticism from Real Madrid supporters and commentators. It came after the 26-year-old’s contentious departure from Paris St-Germain to sign a contract on a free transfer with the Spanish powerhouses in June of last year after his contract expired.

“The adaptation period for me has ended and now I have to show my quality,” said Mbappe. “I want to play well here, “I want to write history with Real Madrid.”

“We wanted to win. We wanted to qualify for the next round. For us it was only logical that Real reached the next round of the Champions League.”

After a “slow start” to life in Madrid, he has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season. It’s safe to say, he is thriving instead of adapting.

Now, Mbappe is beginning to resemble the feared forward who spent six years at PSG scoring 256 goals in 308 games.

He was given a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 78th minute following his treble, demonstrating that the Real Madrid supporters now love him as well.

He has kept Real Madrid in Europe following a rocky start to their campaign and scored seven goals in six LaLiga games since the new year.
