Mbappe was not called up for the France team’s matches in November.
Despite his troubles with France, Ibrahima Konate has pledged to “always help” Kylian Mbappe.
Unexpectedly, the Real Madrid player was cut from Les Blues’ most recent international team. Mbappe was left out of the selection for the second consecutive month.
Following discussions with France manager Didier Deschamps, the decision was made. The 2018 World Cup winner has had a challenging personal campaign. In spite of his level, he has found it difficult to fit in at Real Madrid.
However, Konate, one of his national team colleagues, has come out and promised to support Mbappe through his difficulties. The Liverpool defender said in an interview with Telefoot:
“Beyond being a footballer, he is one of my friends, someone that I have a lot of affection for. If Kylian has psychological problems in his life, we’ll always be there to help him.
“But we know the qualities that Kylian has; he is a formidable player and one of the best in the world. Every player in their career has had a little blip so I’m not worried about him. I can’t wait for him to get back to his best level.”
Earlier this week, France manager Deschamps gave an explanation for why Mbappe was left out from his team. He stated during a press conference:
“It’s a fact that he’s in a complicated situation.
“I’m behind him. He is going through a period that is not the happiest of his career. He wanted to come, I repeat. But I think it’s better right now for him. Everyone has the right to have a complicated period, there is the physical, psychological aspect.
“There are always interpretations, whether I speak or not. I am careful to weigh my words, but I do not want to fuel debates that lead nowhere. He’s not here.”
Now, Mbappe will have to wait a long time to play for his nation again. The 25-year-old will have to work harder to rejoin the team for the next international break in March 2025.
