Top five in-form strikers to watch in Champions League & Europa League Matchday 8

These strikers have lit up both competitions with their goalscoring ability.
Europe’s top strikers will be the primary drivers of their teams’ chances of making it to the knockout stage as the Champions League and Europa League league phases approach their final round this season. Most of them have made big names this term as they continue to look for that golden boot in the tournament. With this here are five prolific forwards who have shown remarkable consistency and efficiency in 2024–2025.

5. Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig)
Benjamin Šeško of Leipzig is the only goal scorer on the list whose current team is undoubtedly finishing their European competition campaign this year.
With 14 goals and three assists in all competitions so far, the Slovenian player may have been Die Roten Bullen’s only chance to salvage the season. He contributed to half of the team’s eight goals in the Champions League and has scored in every game but one in 2025. It will be interesting to see if Šeško can score with that conversion rate in a new league and competition if he joins a new club.
4. Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Hugo Ekitike is now settling into the German club after a few years of fame and a challenging 18 months with Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital. This season, the 22-year-old is playing brilliantly for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ekitike is at the height of his game right now, having scored five goals in his past four games and 14 goals overall in all competitions. He has also filled in the absence of Omar Marmoush who left for Manchester City in the January window.
3. Jonathan David (Lille)
Despite being the least well-known name on the list, Jonathan David is tied for third place in the Champions League scoring standings this season. He has five goals in the league stage, with only Robert Lewandowski (9) and Raphinha (8) surpassing his total. The 25-year-old has an average rating of 7.31 in the games this season, making him Lille’s joint-second-best player.
2. Santiago Giménez (Feyenoord)
With four goals and one assist in four Champions League games overall, as well as a decisive brace against Manuel Neuer in the penultimate round of the group phase, Santiago Giménez has made his mark on Europe’s biggest stage this season.
Even though the Mexican scored a career-high 26 goals in all competitions the previous season, it seems like this is the season when Feyenoord’s number 29 really took off thanks to impressive performances against Manchester City, Sparta Prague, and Bayern Munich, respectively. The top clubs in Europe took notice of his goal-scoring prowess.
1. Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP)
The Swedish centre-forward is unquestionably having one of the most productive seasons of any striker in recent seasons, and Gyökeres quickly dispels any doubts on the field if someone raises an objection to any aspect of the 26-year-old’s impressive offensive skill set.
Whether he is a right or left foot, his impressive shooting map speaks for a complete forward who has made just 33 appearances this season across all competitions, scoring 34 goals (including six in his Champions League debut season) and dishing out six assists.
