Is Cesc Fabregas the next young football manager to lookout for?
Fabregas is currently managing the Italian side Como.
Cesc Fabregas, currently manager of Como 1907, finally saw his side win the first game of the season. They defeated Atalanta 3-2 in the Serie A league. The Italian side were winless in their last four league matches with two draws and defeats.
But their first win against a top side, Atalanta, will give the club major optimism going into this season. Como are currently 15th in the table, and hopefully, their win will serve as a confidence booster for the club.
More credit should also be given to Fabregas, who helped the club get promoted to the Serie A last season when he was the assistant coach of the club before being named the manager this season.
Now he has one of the biggest jobs. To prove his credentials as the next big manager in Europe, Fabregas will have to change the destiny of Como in the league.
However, compared to other big Serie A teams, he doesn’t have many star players. But his philosophy at the club will unquestionably help challenge top teams this season.
Is Fabregas the next young manager to look out for?
Fabregas was an incredible and one of the best midfielders in football, winning numerous trophies with both club and his country during his career. He will now have to employ his football acumen to lead a team that last played in Serie A in 2003.
The club had many struggles during their period away from the top tier. They were declared bankrupt twice, of which the most recent one was in 2016. Despite repeated issues off the field, the club continued their rise after a branch of Indonesian tobacco giants Djarum took over the club.
Fabregas is also a shareholder of the club alongside his former Arsenal teammate, Thierry Henry. When the former Spain international retired in 2023, he was named interim coach of Como.
After he led them to Serie A promotion, he was quickly appointed as the manager of the club. Fabregas now has a chance to prove his coaching attributes to the world. He has played under many great coaches, such as Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola, José Mourinho, Vicente del Bosque, and Antonio Conte. After playing under them, he will now be putting his knowledge and philosophy into practice.
His side has played only five games, and they have finally secured a win. As the season goes on, the fans will have a better understanding of Fabregas’s system at the club.
He has the intelligence to turn Como into a major club, though. This journey will help him further establish his coaching supremacy. Instead of starting his coaching career at a big club, the former Barcelona player made the right decision to put his coaching to the test with a side where he can do it without much pressure.
If he leads Como even into the top 10 finish by the end of the season, then Fabregas will certainly be seen as one of the interesting managers in Europe. It will also see him get offers from big Italian teams and other European clubs.
