Solanke has scored three goals in all competition for Spurs this season.

Ever since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to find a reliable goalscorer, this saw Son Heung-min shift to the centre-forward role. Son did impress as the main man and managed to alter his playing style and adjust to the No.9 role but his tally was always going to be less compared to how much Kane used to score every season.

But the North Londoners needed a striker who has an eye for goal and a great box presence like their former England international. Ange Postecoglou’s side identified Dominic Solanke as the man who will lead the line at the club.

Spurs did bring the Englishman to the club but Solanke had a slow start at the club, but he has now scored three goals in a row for the club in all competitions, which is now a promising sign from the player.

Is Solanke the next great striker after Kane at Spurs?

Solanke’s three goals in a row for Spurs after a slow start to his life at Spurs has shown encouraging signs that he can be their new hitman at the club. But there is a big difference between Kane and Solanke. It’s obvious that Solanke won’t have as huge an impact as Kane at the club because what current Bayern Munich achieved at Spurs, goal-scoring wise can’t be replicated.

Both players have also different playing styles as Kane was more of a deep-line playmaker and a prolific scorer. He used to drop deep and help in the build-up, while Solanke is a poacher who remains in the opposition box instead of dropping deep during the build-up.

It is mainly because of the 27-year-old’s former coach Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth where he told him to remain in the box rather than drop deep to get involved in the play. This saw the striker score 17 goals from the opposition box area out of 19 last term.

However, Dominic Solanke is not an elite finisher when compared to Kane but he does get in a dangerous position often to finish off moves.

Dominic Solanke is excellent at finding spaces between defenders and capitalizes on the crosses from teammates in the opponent’s box to finish off the moves. Now his three goals recently are an indication that he is adjusting to life at Spurs and will continue to score goals with his excellent box presence. Solanke was also called up to the England squad for the October international window.

However, achieving what Kane did at Spurs will be near impossible but Solanke can make his own mark as the new striker at the club.
