Haaland left the stadium after the FA Cup game on crutches.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been wearing a protective boot, raising concerns about an early conclusion to his season.

The very productive Norwegian forward was unable to play a full match in City’s FA Cup quarterfinal matchup against AFC Bournemouth. He witnessed an exciting afternoon at Vitality Stadium, where he scored his 30th goal of the season after Kepa Arrizabalaga saved an early penalty.

Just after the hour, Haaland was substituted due to an ankle issue. He was obviously in some agony as he made his way to medical attention after hobbling off the pitch to make room for Omar Marmoush, who scored the winning goal of the match.

The severity of the condition was quickly questioned, and Haaland was seen slowly walking on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left leg to City’s squad bus.

Manchester City have not provided an official statement regarding the potential duration of their talismanic No. 9’s absence. Pep Guardiola’s team will host Leicester City on Wednesday before travelling to Old Trafford for a derby match against archrivals Manchester United on Sunday after securing a spot in the eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final.

Guardiola was unable to provide an early update on the extent of Haaland’s injury after the victory on the south coast. “I don’t know yet, we will have to see,” he told ITV.

Erling Haaland inked a new nine-and-a-half-year extension to his deal earlier this season and has now scored 30 goals in all competitions. Despite City’s dismal season, the former Dortmund centre-forward has been finding the back of the net consistently and has contributed significantly.

He will hope that the injury isn’t serious as there are still some games left, and City will look to claim the top four Premier League spot to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
