Ivory Coast predicted lineup vs Ecuador for FIFA World Cup 2026

Ivory Coast have qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the fourth time.

Ivory Coast will commence their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign on Sunday, June 14, against Ecuador at the Philadelphia Stadium in Pennsylvania. They are in Group E of the tournament alongside Germany and Curacao.

The Elephants qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 by finishing at the top of Group F in the CAF (African) qualifiers. They earned direct qualification, courtesy of an unbeaten record in 10 games.

Ivory Coast faced Scotland and France in their two warm-up matches before the World Cup. Interestingly, they won both matches. They stunned Steve Clarke’s Scotland 1-0 before recording a resounding 2-1 win over France.

Talking about the side’s history in the global tournament, the Ivory Coast qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 2006. At the time, the team was led by former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba. His side were drawn in the ‘Group of Death’ alongside Argentina and the Netherlands. The Elephants were eliminated in the group stage.

Similar results came in 2010 and 2014, as they were eliminated in the group stage. However, after missing the 2018 and 2022 editions, they have finally returned to the big time.

Ivory Coast team news ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 clash against Ecuador

Evan Ndicka is expected to remain on the sidelines for some more time and miss the clash against Ecuador. He picked up a thigh injury in the Rome derby last month. Since then, his availability has been in doubt.

Apart from Ndicka, Emerse Fae’s side has no significant injury concerns. However, he could face a few dilemmas in fielding the playing XI.

The Ivory Coast boast a lot of talent, including Amad Diallo, Yan Diomande, Nicolas Pepe and Simon Adingra. Additionally, it will also be difficult for Emerse Fae to find the right attacker to lead from the front. The options include Elye Wahi, Evan Guessand and Ange-Yoan Bonny.
