The German star is one of the best players in the world

Bayern Munich sensation Jamal Musiala reveals that he always looked up to Lionel Messi as his inspiration and had his name on the back of his jersey when he was a child.

Musiala revealed he was also a fan of Neymar, but Messi was his favourite player, who always enthralled the youngster during his development phase as a football player.

Musiala who has established himself as the most prominent star of the German club at such a young age has been compared to Messi because of his ability to beat defenders in any situation.

Musiala has been a big fan of the Argentine player and has also faced him when Bayern met Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 and the youngster also got the chance to exchange jersey with Messi.

Speaking in an interview Musiala stated that he was a big fan of Messi and that the former Barcelona player always inspired him, he further said:

“On the back of my shirts as a kid the name was almost always Messi. I also had one with Neymar, but Messi was my hero, my favourite player!”, told BILD.

Similarities in Lionel Messi and Jamal Musiala’s play styles

Musiala has a lot of similarities to Messi in his playing style, as the 21-year-old is renowned for his dribbling ability and playing entertaining football. Meanwhile, Messi during his heyday was different he could take the game into his own hands and decide the outcome of the match.

However, he still boasts all those abilities to take the game on his head and cruise his team to a win, while Musiala is far away from becoming that player as both players are different when it comes to scoring goals.

If Musiala is to reach Messi’s figure then he will have to be clinical in front of the net in order to reach half of Messi’s career goals.

This season the German star has started the season on a strong note with eight goals and two assists in 12 Bundesliga matches.
