Al Hilal's Jorge Jesus gives initial availability for Brazil national team job, CBF ready to pay €2.5m termination clause: Report

The Portuguese coach is currently managing Al-Hilal.

In order to hire Jorge Jesus as the new head coach of Brazil, the CBF are prepared to pay the €2.5 million termination clause in his contract, reports suggest.

Brazil’s national team are enduring one of their worst spells and their recent 4-1 defeat to Argentina has highlighted important changes they need to bring to the national team if they are to secure their place in the 2026 World Cup and win the trophy next year.

However, the Selecao are not in danger of missing out on a spot in the competition next year as they are in fourth place in the table. But if they continue to drop points in their next World Cup qualifying matches, then their hopes of reaching the competition could be dented.

Brazil’s board has now called for big changes in the management and is looking for options, with Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho seen as the most ideal candidates to lead the national team.

However, according to UOL Esporte, it has now been reported that CBF are ready to shell out €2.5 million for a termination clause in Jorge Jesus’ Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal’s contract.

Given his successful past at Flamengo, Jorge Jesus is now regarded as the most formidable candidate. In the past, he was also open to leaving the Saudi club to become the South American nation’s manager.

Jorge Jesus had initially expressed interest in accepting the position, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. After the Saudi Pro League season concludes, the Portuguese coach, who is presently with Al Hilal, is amenable to talks.

The appointment of a new crown coach might be the crucial step in regaining the renown that has long been associated with the Seleção.

Brazil have a limited amount of time to choose the team’s next manager for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games. Pep Guardiola is another well-known name but Jorge Jesus might be the more practical option.
