[WATCH] Jose Mourinho names his favourites for Euro 2024 and Ballon d'Or

The Portuguese manager has joined Fenerbahce as their new head coach

Portugal are predicted by Jose Mourinho to defeat England in the final of Euro 2024. The much-awaited competition begins on Friday with Germany, the hosts, playing Scotland. Three years ago, Gareth Southgate’s team reached the final of the European Championship, but they lost on penalties to Italy.

If Mourinho’s forecast comes true, England supporters may be in for additional suffering and heartache.

Nonetheless, the seasoned Portuguese coach predicted that Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane would win individual awards.

He thinks Bellingham is going to be the player of the competition, which may provide some solace for losing out on the championship, and that Kane of Bayern Munich will lead the scoring statistics and win the Golden Boot.

In addition to Portugal and England, Mourinho listed France as one of his top three choices, saying he doesn’t see any other country vying for the championship.

“The surprise team is anyone outside Portugal, France and England because I think those three are the favourites,” he added. “So anyone that comes outside these three, even countries with status like Germany.”

Away from the Euros, Ferdinand also asked the 61-year-old who he thought would win the Ballon d’Or.

“I think Vinicius [Junior].”

England are favoured to win a major trophy for the first time since 1966, but they enter the competition fresh off a lacklustre 1-0 loss to Iceland at Wembley.

On the other hand, Portugal, the 2016 Euro champions, proved to be too strong for the Republic of Ireland in their last warm-up match, winning 3-0 thanks to two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Luke Shaw gave England the lead against Italy in the subsequent minute of their thrilling march to the Euro 2020 final. However, Leonardo Bonucci levelled in the second half, and the Azzurri won on penalties.
