Sancho has joined Chelsea on a season-long loan.

Jurgen Klopp has taken a dig at Erik ten Hag for his treatment of Jadon Sancho. He feels the player should have been given more time. Sancho who joined Manchester United for an £80 million fee in 2021 endured the most turbulent period of his career at the club.

The forward laboured to demonstrate his attributes and was ultimately given a period of time to find his form when Ten Hag arrived. However, things became bad with the Dutch manager when he criticised Sancho’s performance in training last year.

This time the player did not hold back and fired shots at the Dutch manager by posting on Twitter. This led the relationship between both of them to become sour.

Things further escalated when Sancho was banned from Man United matches and even training. He was also barred from entering the club’s facility and later was sent on loan in January.

However, the former Liverpool manager Klopp feels Ten Hag should have given more time to the forward when the whole world was criticising him. Klopp said: ”If the whole world loses trust and faith in the player, then the manager has to be the one behind I cannot the player. I cannot just buy into the useless stuff did by the way. Buying a player for  £80m then sending him out on loan.”

Klopp’s comments will have mixed responses as many would argue that Ten Hag did give him enough time to return back to his best but maybe that did not happen. Then the former Ajax manager was running out of patience.

However, when one sees Sancho’s time at United, he spent three seasons there. The player, for whom United paid so much for his signing, failed to show his ‘A’ game at Manchester United. He barely performed and further fell down the pecking order.

Now he has been loaned to Chelsea. It’s unlikely that United will be hoping for him to return back to the club. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for him at the North London club.
