The Frenchman spent most of his playing years with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.
Longtime teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is not, in the opinion of Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema, the greatest player in history.
The present rivalry between Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, both of whom have legitimate claims to the title, is the main source of the almost continual discussion about football’s greatest of all time. CR7 expressed his own views in a recent interview with Edu Aguirre on La Sexta, calling himself “the most complete” footballer of all time.
Ronaldo played with Benzema during the height of his career, and the Frenchman was the ideal counterpoint to his explosive skills. In a recent interview, Benzema acknowledged that he appreciates Ronaldo’s assertion that he is the best, but he also disclosed that his own choice is another former Real Madrid player.
“Anyone can say whatever they want; if he thinks he’s the best in history, then he is. There are many, for me, it’s Ronaldo, the one from Brazil. I don’t like making comparisons between players because everyone has their own story,” Benzema said to TNT Brasil.
The Frenchman never played with the Brazilian great, but his remarks may seem unexpected considering that he played with the Portuguese Ronaldo during the time when both players led the Los Blancos to success.
Many people consider Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima to be one of the best players of all time. He was a striker who revolutionized the position and influenced a generation of players.
After spending some time in the Netherlands and making his debut with Cruzeiro, the Brazilian joined Barcelona, where he scored 47 goals in his debut season, making him the youngest player to win FIFA World Player of the Year at the age of 20.
After that, Inter paid a record-breaking transfer fee to sign him, although he missed more than 18 months due to the first of several severe knee injuries before coming back to lead Brazil to the World Cup in 2002.
Ronaldo then joined Los Blancos in a shocking move in 2002 where he spent five years and further established himself as the greatest of all time.
