The Red Devils have now suffered a double injury blow.

Manchester United were hit with another injury blow. Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo was withdrawn from the England squad after an injury to the player.

He is United’s second player after Alejandro Garnacho picked up a knee ailment and was excluded from the Argentina squad for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches.

However, not only Mainoo but the Three Lions interim head coach Lee Carsley has also omitted Aston Vila’s Ezri Konsa and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White for their games against Greece and Finland.

Mainoo missed United’s 3-3 draw against FC Porto but played 85 minutes in their 0-0 draw against Villa. Another injury setback will be bad news for the club who are already dealing with their embarrassing performance in the Premier League.

Now, his withdrawal from England’s squad has seen United make an odd record. For the first time since 1976, there are no United players in an England squad. This season, United’s performance has remained awful, and this record only makes it worse.

This is not something United would be proud of as they are also enduring one of the worst starts to the season under manager Erik ten Hag as they languish in 14th place in the Premier League.

Ten Hag has not done anything to change the current atmosphere at the club. Their performance has only grown even more dire.

Speculations have already begun about Ten Hag’s future at the club as the board is now set to make a decision if things don’t change under him.

It will be interesting to see if the former Ajax head coach will be able to maintain his position after the end of the October international break. The pressure has intensified and the club are now looking for replacements.

Meanwhile, United will hope that Garnacho and Mainoo return before the end of the international break as the club will aim to recover from their poor start to the season.
