The Frenchman has raised his voice to protect the Brazilian.

Before Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League match against AS Monaco on Tuesday, January 20, Kylian Mbappe, who scored a penalty in the Levante victory, spoke to the media. Thinking back on the booing episode involving Vinicius Jr, Mbappe gave his teammate a lot of support. The France national team captain felt that the whole thing was unfair to one person.

Following the recent dismissal of Xabi Alonso, who had taken over as manager at the beginning of the 2025–2026 season, Real Madrid are going through difficult times.

Although there are many explanations behind Alonso’s conflict with the Real Madrid players and management, his relationship with Vinicius Jr has been a hot topic.

Everyone could see the personal equation, and since Alonso’s dismissal, Real Madrid supporters have been furious with Vinicius. The Brazilian was jeered by the home crowd at the Bernabeu during Real Madrid’s 2-0 LaLiga victory over Levante. Vinicius Jr was seen rushing back to the dressing room after the incident caused him mental distress.

Kylian Mbappe addressed the media ahead of their next Champions League fixture. He spoke about the Vinicius incident:

“It’s NOT Vini Jr fault. He’s a fantastic player. He’s an incredible guy, I’m lucky to know him and I’m very fond of him.”

”We have to protect him better. So he’s not alone against everyone. He’s not alone at Real Madrid. We’re all with him.”

Vinicius Jr appeared distraught in the tunnel as a result of the crowd’s whistles. According to some sources, the Brazilian may decide not to sign a new deal with the club if the supporters keep booing him. The fans in Bernabeu have specifically targeted Vinicius, who has been booed during the last three home games.

With two games remaining, Los Blancos are now in seventh place in the Champions League’s league phase standings. Their goal differential only puts them in the top eight. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are only three points behind Bayern Munich, who are in second position.

How did Kylian Mbappe respond to the booing by fans for Vinicius?

He is with the player and wants his team to support him.

Was Kylian Mbappe booed by home fans?

No. The boos mainly targeted Vinicius.

Where are Los Blancos in the UCL table?

They are in seventh spot on the league phase table.
