The Frenchman has now scored 28 LaLiga goals this season.
In Thursday’s Spanish LaLiga match between Real Madrid and Mallorca, Kylian Mbappe dribbled and charmed his way to a beautiful goal. Together with Jacobo Ramon’s stoppage-time goal and Mbappe’s first goal, Madrid managed to pull off a thrilling 2-1 victory over their rivals and thwart Barcelona’s title celebrations.
With that goal, Mbappe solidified his history at Real Madrid and became the first player to record 28 LaLiga goals in his debut campaign. He is still vying to be the league’s top scorer.
He broke the record set by the great Alfredo Di Stefano, who scored 27 goals in the 1953–54 campaign, on route. R9 with Barcelona in 1997 was the last player to rack up 28 goals in his first season in La Liga.
In what detractors have called Mbappe’s “bad season,” he also managed to net 40 goals across every tournament. Ruud van Nistelrooy, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo could not top this accomplishment. In light of this, Mbappe’s record is all the more impressive.
Mbappe is currently just four goals away from matching his all-time high of 44 goals scored in a season. He still has the Club World Cup and two league games left.
The statistics for Mbappe’s last five years, which show that he only scores goals, reveal that he has scored 42 goals in 2020–21, 39 in 2021–22, 41 in 2022–23, and 44 in 2023–24. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how many goals he will score before the end of this season.
Additionally, we must talk about Mbappe’s goal versus Mallorca. He demonstrated that he is a true world-class player by taking the ball to enter the game and hitting hard by closing his foot while surrounded by up to four defenders.
