Kylian Mbappe becomes first player to reach 30 goals in LaLiga season since Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo

The Frenchman has netted 31 LaLiga goals this season.

Kylian Mbappe made sure to leave an impression as supporters flocked to the Santiago Bernabéu to express their gratitude to Carlo Ancelotti and Luka Modrić for their contributions and achievements at the club.

He missed a penalty kick in the 38th minute, but he jumped on the rebound to end the deadlock. Then, with seven minutes remaining in the game, Mbappé scored a precise goal to double his total and give Real Madrid a 2-0 victory. He became the first Real Madrid player to score 31 goals in his first LaLiga season with his brace.

This feat also made Kylian Mbappé the first player to score at least 30 goals in a single LaLiga season since Lionel Messi. His rapid adaptation to Spanish football is further demonstrated by the fact that he is the first Real Madrid player to reach that milestone since Cristiano Ronaldo during the 2014–15 season.

He is currently ahead of Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona, who has scored 25 goals this season, in the competition for the coveted Pichichi Trophy, which is given to the top scorer in LaLiga.

With 31 league goals and 62 points at the end of the season, Mbappé also surpassed Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres in the European Golden Shoe rankings. Gyökeres has a score of 58.5 points.

Although Mohamed Salah of Liverpool still has a chance—he would need to score four goals against Crystal Palace on the last day of the Premier League—Mbappé is presently leading the race to be Europe’s most prolific striker.

Kylian Mbappé is currently just the fourth player in LaLiga history to score 30 goals or more in their rookie season. Like Mbappé, these legends had a spectacular debut in the Spanish league. With his incredible 31 goals, he is among the best, after Ronaldo Nazário (34 goals in 1996–97), Romário (30 goals in 1993–94), and Pruden (33 goals in 1940–41)
