Kylian Mbappe surpasses one of Cristiano Ronaldo's records at Real Madrid

The Frenchman netted his first hat trick as a Madrid player.

Despite having a difficult start at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe has already settled in, as seen by his first hat-trick in Saturday night’s 3-0 triumph over Real Valladolid. In addition, he has scored 12 goals in his previous 12 games across all competitions. The treble puts him just two goals behind Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona in the Pichichi Trophy race.

Mbappe has scored 22 goals in 32 games overall, and it makes sense that comparisons are being made to his hero Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid debut season. The renowned Portuguese player only played 35 games in his debut season due to injuries, finishing with 32 goals.

Although it will be difficult for him to achieve the Real Madrid legend’s goals-to-game ratio from the 2009–10 campaign, Mbappe will be aiming for 11 more goals to surpass Ronaldo. But the 26-year-old has already surpassed one of his achievements.

According to Diario AS, Mbappe’s hat-trick against Valladolid occurred in his 19th LaLiga appearance, making him the fourth-fastest player for Real Madrid to accomplish this achievement, behind Emmanuel Adebayor (14), Gareth Bale (9) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (two games). In contrast, Ronaldo scored his first league treble for Los Blancos in his 27th appearance.

These days, Mbappe appears to be playing at his peak, and Real Madrid are thrilled to have him. He was informed earlier in the week that his club fortunes have altered as a result of a shift in his mindset during his rookie campaign.
