Kylian Mbappé is entirely concentrating on today’s “special” Clásico, assuring fans that Real Madrid are committed to winning the crucial match with three points.

Since moving to the Spanish city, the France international is still seeking his first win over FC Barcelona. Last season, Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid lost four El Clásicos. It saw Barcelona ultimately win a domestic treble in Hansi Flick’s first season.

Los Blancos, now led by Xabi Alonso, are keen to defeat their fiercest rivals. In one of the most important matches of the LaLiga season, which is still in its early phase, Kylian Mbappé, who scored five goals against the Catalans the previous season, is under pressure to lead his team past the reigning Spanish champions.

“This is a big week for us. It was an important match against Juventus, but Sunday’s game is special,” Mbappé said after being named Real Madrid’s Player of the Month for September on Friday afternoon.

“We hope the fans will get behind us and cheer us on as they always do. They know how important this game is, and we do too. We hope it’ll be a great day.”

“It’s the match everyone wants to see. There’s no bigger game than this one on a club level. It can only be compared to a huge Champions League game, but in terms of league matches, there’s nothing like Real Madrid-Barcelona.”

“But we don’t just want to play it, we want to win it,” Mbappé said.

Real Madrid will have the advantage of hosting the season’s first El Clásico. Another benefit for the Spanish powerhouses is that their assault is spearheaded by LaLiga’s top scorer.

Kylian Mbappe has scored goals in every game this season except for Juventus and Mallorca. The striker has scored in 11 consecutive matches across all competitions before his streak ended against the Old Lady in the UEFA Champions League.
