The 18-year-old provided the game-winning assist.
Lamine Yamal broke the mark for the most goals contributed by a player who is 18 years of age or younger, continuing his incredible ascent to become one of the best young players in UEFA Champions League history.
In FC Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, Yamal helped Jules Koundé score the game-winning goal. This contribution by Yamal was his 14th in Europe’s top club competition, surpassing Kylian Mbappé as the player with the most goal contributions before turning 19. It came by in his first Champions League match ever at Camp Nou.
Lamine Yamal sets new Champions League record

In 28 games since earning his Champions League debut in September 2023 at the age of 16 years and 68 days, Yamal has scored seven goals and provided seven assists. He is also the third youngest debutant in the competition’s history.
His growth over the last three seasons has been nothing short of spectacular. This most recent accomplishment is more evidence of his current career trajectory as he continues to shatter records set by some of the greatest players in the world.
However, despite Barcelona cruising to a 2-1 victory, Yamal didn’t look happy when he was subbed off by Hansi Flick.
Yamal wasn’t exactly in the mood to celebrate, although he achieved this new mark. In fact, when he was replaced in the 89th minute of the game, he appeared dissatisfied and irritated.
Yamal will miss Barcelona’s upcoming Champions League game against Slavia Prague due to his yellow card. He will return for his team’s last league phase game, though. Yamal has until the conclusion of the 2025-26 season to keep improving on his new record, as he won’t be turning 19 until next summer.
