Lamine Yamal sets new record in Barcelona's 3-1 win over Benfica in Champions League

The teenager demonstrated an incredible performance.
Lamine Yamal’s performance in Barcelona’s 3-1 over Benfica in the Champions League second-leg round of 16 had the spectators sitting on the edge of their seats.
The 17-year-old FC Barcelona sensation has created history by being the youngest player to record a goal and assist in a single UEFA Champions League encounter. His exceptional play was crucial to the Blaugrana’s triumph over Benfica, confirming that his skill is limitless.
Lamine Yamal created a dream play during a game in which Barcelona found it difficult to generate threat with an incredible goal in the 27th minute. The winger made an impression and shone brightly.
He started from a corner, drove to the area’s edge, and fired a powerful left-footed effort that went into the left top corner. An incredible goal that sent Montjuïc into a frenzy.
The aim of Hansi Flick’s team was evident from the first whistle. The Blaugranas controlled possession and set the pace of the game with an offensive squad.
Not only did he score a goal but also set up Raphinha to break the deadlock in the 11th minute of the game. The happiness was short-lived, though, as Benfica promptly tied the score through Nicolás Otamendi’s header.
Alejandro Balde made another outstanding individual move just before halftime, which led to Raphinha’s second goal, which all but sealed the victory.
Barcelona played smartly in the second half. The Catalans maintained a strong defensive line and used extended possessions to control the game’s tempo despite Benfica’s attempts.
Yamal gave a remarkable performance on an emotionally charged evening. Notably, the triumph was dedicated to the recently deceased Dr. Carles Miñarro.
Barcelona are now confident going into their next matchup against either Borussia Dortmund or Lille. Lamine Yamal will once again be looking to create moments of his magic in the quarterfinals.
