ESPN reports that preliminary tests conducted on Wednesday night indicate the 18-year-old forward may have had a tear in his hamstring.
Yamal could be sidelined for at least five to six weeks, and if his recuperation takes longer than expected, he may miss even more time.

According to that timeframe, he would miss the rest of the domestic season and his chances of competing in the World Cup are in serious question. Additional tests will be conducted today for a clear timeline for the rehab.

How did Lamine Yamal get injured?
In the match against Celta Vigo, Lamine Yamal picked up an injury from an odd situation. The 18-year-old easily converted a penalty he had earned himself in the 40th minute to give Barca the lead, which turned out to be the winning goal.
But as soon as he took the penalty, he signalled to the bench that he was hurt rather than celebrating. His teammates, some of whom were confused, surrounded him as he collapsed to the ground and lay on the field.
The forward was treated right away by Barcelona’s medical staff before limping out of the tunnel, obviously upset. He was replaced by Roony Bardghji.
Barcelona still hold a significant lead over Real Madrid in the LaLiga standings, if Lamine Yamal was to miss the final stretch, but there are still some important games left before they can win LaLiga for the second time in a row, including the Clásico in May.
