Lille accept Manchester United's bid for Real Madrid target Leny Yoro
Real Madrid are also in the race to sign the French teenager.
Manchester United are now in the driving seat to land the highly-rated defender Leny Yoro after Ligue 1 team LOSC Lille accepted the Premier League giants’ £42million fee proposal. However, the club is yet to reach a personal agreement with the 18-year-old, who is more inclined to join Real Madrid.
United are set to undergo defensive revamp under Jim Ratcliffe and are also lining up a move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. The Red Devils also face competition from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for the acquisition of Yoro.
Nonetheless, Madrid are yet to meet Lille’s £42m plus add-ons valuation, which United have matched and are currently leading the race to land the defender.
The club is undergoing a massive change and following their meeting in Carrington, they are set to push for the signings of their summer targets.
Last season United had one of the worst defensive records conceding the most goals and finished eighth in the Premier League, which was another abysmal campaign under Erik ten Hag. Injuries were another worry for the club which made the majority of the defenders unavailable. In the games, they had to depend on veteran player Johnny Evans.
Leny Yoro’s addition to the club will be a significant move as his signing will fortify their leaky defence. As United are also pursuing De Ligt and Branthwaite, if they manage to land them, they will be set for the future.
Throughout the process, they have left other alternatives open and made it clear that they respect Yoro, who played 41 games for Lille the previous season.
United are also considering a deal for Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, and are in serious negotiations to sign Joshua Zirkzee, a striker with a £34 million buyout clause at Bologna.
