List of all star players who will be free agents in summer 2025
Many top players will become free agents after the end of this season.
Players who have six months remaining on their contracts are technically free agents and can negotiate with other teams. The chance to put together a dream team of top quality is thrilling this season, as a number of great players are now free to negotiate.
With three of their key players out of contract—right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, 26, centre-back and teammate Virgil van Dijk, 33, and Mohamed Salah, 32, the team’s standout player with 20 goals and 17 assists in 26 games this season—Liverpool are in serious trouble.
In recent weeks, negotiations have begun with all three, but none have resulted in a favourable outcome. This Friday, Salah even said that he would not be extending his contract. At the moment, Van Dijk seems the most likely to extend his contract.
The contract statuses of Bayern Munich’s 24-year-old left-back Alphonso Davies, 29-year-old midfielder Joshua Kimmich, 28-year-old right winger Leroy Sané, and their illustrious 38-year-old goalkeeper Manuel Neuer need to be addressed.
Real Madrid are faced with the difficult decision of whether to extend the contracts of their 39-year-old legend Luka Modric and their 29-year-old left-back Ferland Mendy. The deals of German midfielder Ilkay Gündogan and Belgian sensation Kevin de Bruyne are both about to expire.
Two Saudi Arabian legends have similarly uncertain futures: Neymar, 32, who recently netted for Al-Hilal after a 450-day wait, and Cristiano Ronaldo, 39, who registered 16 goals in 19 games for Al-Nassr will become free agents after the end of the season.
Just imagine signing a spectacular player for free. We bring you the coveted list of upcoming free agents in 2025.
