Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-0 to go level on points with Man City in Premier League
Luis Diaz scored a brace as the Reds prevailed over United 3-0.
Liverpool displayed their bragging rights under Arne Slot when they beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, with a brace from Luis Diaz and a goal from Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool commenced excellently. It was expected from them. They took the lead in 35 minutes of the game through Luis Diaz, the Reds continued to exert pressure on United and were more threatening in the attack.
Arne Slot’s side impressively took the second lead. It was once again the Colombian who found the back of the net and made it 2-0. Meanwhile, United failed to find answers to the Reds’ questions. The home fans witnessed the most underwhelming performance of the season early on.
Liverpool appeared appealing in the game with their excellent passing and exploiting spaces that led to two goals, while United cut a frustrating figure. Erik ten Hag looked clueless on the touchline despite shouting at his players.
One of the worst United performers was Casemiro. He couldn’t keep the ball, failed to set the flow of the game and made eight unsuccessful passes.
The midfielder gave away possession plenty of time and looked a shadow of himself. He was run over easily by Reds’ players and couldn’t complement Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the pitch.
To make things worse the Reds inflict further misery on United when Mohamed Salah added the third after a fine finish. It diminished any hope of a comeback for United.
It further made things tougher for United. The fans saw an embarrassment unfold in front of them as the visitors continued to put the home side on their toes.
It was a disappointing moment for United, who were unable to dictate the game and allowed the Slot side to demonstrate their supremacy. Ten Hag was also unable to find a way past this formidable Liverpool team.United have only won once in their last three games, while Liverpool are yet to lose this season.
They are the only second team with three wins besides Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. City are top of the table just because of a better goal difference.
