Liverpool identify Takefusa Kubo as potential Mohamed Salah replacement: Report

The Egyptian forward is yet to renew his deal with the Reds.

If Mohamed Salah departs this summer, Liverpool are reportedly looking to replace him with the Japanese forward Takefusa Kubo in the summer.

Even though his contract is coming to an end, Salah has been outstanding for the Reds this season, tallying an incredible 28 goals and 19 assists across all competitions.

The Egypt international may leave Anfield on a free transfer in a few months if the contract situation isn’t resolved quickly, and finding a replacement will undoubtedly be extremely difficult.

The Reds are yet to start contract talks with the former AS Roma forward who will be available for nothing in the summer.

Fichajes claims that Liverpool are considering Takefusa Kubo, a winger for Real Sociedad, as a possible replacement for Salah.

Although the 23-year-old has displayed some promise while playing for Sociedad, his season stats to date are disappointing, as he has only managed six goals and two assists.

Although Kubo might make significant progress in the years to come, it would be extremely risky to depend on the Japan international to take Salah’s place as the primary man for the time being.

Although Arne Slot has performed admirably at LFC thus far, he will require far more support from the market than this. Therefore supporters will be hoping that additional names will be brought to the club’s attention in the coming weeks and months.

Alternatively, they will simply hope that Salah, who has undoubtedly demonstrated his worth for a new contract, is retained by Liverpool.

Although Kubo has long been considered a huge prospect, he isn’t quite there yet, and, likely, he hasn’t earned such a large move yet. Nevertheless, he will undoubtedly be someone to watch in the future.

To be truthful, there isn’t a player in world football that comes close to Salah at the moment. If Liverpool are to allow the Egyptian leave in summer then they will need to start searching for his successor who could fill in his boots at the club.
