The Red Devils had a chance to score the winner but missed the opportunity.

A goal from Amad Diallo helped secure Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool. However, it took both sides to settle in the game as Liverpool didn’t find their rhythm in the match but they came close to scoring in the first-half. Andre Onana stood firm between the sticks making excellent saves.

United also came close to finding the back of the net but Diego Dalot’s cross failed to convert by Amad Diallo, who couldn’t head the ball properly.

As both sides continued to look for an opener, United once again looked to have found the deadlock, with Bruno Fernandes’ excellent pass to Rasmus Hojlund found him unmarked but the poor finishing saw his efforts blocked by Alisson Becker.

This time Liverpool had a big chance to find the breakthrough when Luiz Diaz dazzled past United’s defence, but he took too long to find the perfect chance to shoot as the Red Devils’ defence acted quickly to clear the ball.

With both teams headed to the locker room with no goals in the first half, the second half provided more entertainment. United managed to find the back of the net within eight minutes of the start of the second half.

Fernandes found Lisandro Martinez who rifled the ball into the roof of the net. But Liverpool were quick to deliver the response when Cody Gakpo found the right top corner after cutting to his right.

It appeared Liverpool were going to put more misery on United when Matthijs de Ligt handed the ball in the box and the referee went on to check on VAR and decided to award the penalty.

Mohamed Salah, who is the top scorer in the league put the ball in the bottom right corner. But United continued to in search of an equalizer and eventually got their answer when Alejandro Garnacho’s pass in the box saw Amad tap the ball into Liverpool’s net.

As both teams looked for the winner it was United who were handed the golden chance when Joshua Zirkzee found Harry Maguire in the 96th minute inside Liverpool’s box. However, the defender fired the ball over the goalpost and following that the official blew the full-time whistle as both sides settled for a draw.
